Our Company
Australian 4WD Academy is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO #91225) which conducts nationally accredited driver and rider training. As well as specializing in Four Wheel Drive and All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) courses, we also offer motor cycle riding and defensive driver training courses.
The company is based in the Cooloola Coast in Queensland. It is owned and operated by Michael McCulkin who founded and operated Tri State Safaris for 25 years, an award winning company specializing in small group outback tours. Tri State is the only business in Broken Hill to have achieved the status of a Nationally Accredited Tourism Business and Advanced Eco Certification, as well as being awarded six Gold and four Silver Australian Tourism Awards. We were also inducted into the NSW State and Regional Tourism Hall of Fames. Our experience and level of knowledge in 4WD and Outback travel is widely recognised.
Our destinations included Cape York, the Simpson Desert, Central Australia, the Kimberley, Flinders Ranges and much of Outback NSW and Australia, so our experience in Outback travel is extensive.
We also specialise in organising corporate events with previous clients including Nissan Australia, ARB, Bushranger, 4X4 Magazine and many other well known industry clients.
Michael has formal qualifications in a number of areas including driver training, emergency management, search and rescue and workplace training. These skills, combined with many years of experience as a Policeman in western NSW, set the Australian 4WD Academy apart when it comes to knowledgeable and expert training.
With the experience gained from years in the NSW Police, much of this time involved in road safety, our main focus, not matter what training unit you pick, is on making your driving environment safer. If you drive a 4WD, no matter what the circumstances, your biggest risk in getting to that favourite off road track is simply driving where there are other road users. Our aim is to get participants to identify and mitigate these risks and enjoy the driving experience more.
